DPRK: monuments

The statue in the foreground is part of the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Monument. The pyramid shaped structure in the background is a monument of another sort - the unfinished Ryugong Hotel. This was planned as a 3000 room showpiece but never completed. It stands as an empty shell with no planned completion date, although, according to our guides, work has now restarted on it.
