Jameson Raid, Himley, June 1980

Note. These photographs were taken almost thirty years ago with a disposable plastic camera. I've cleaned them up a bit digitally but the quality remains restricted by the equipment that I had at the time. I'm presenting them now because, in July, Jameson Raid are reforming with the original line up for a few gigs.

The setting for the gig.

  2. Check back here for the next five days. Sadly, of the pictures that I took back then, only a few were any good. Still half a dozen is better than none.
If you want to copy them and use them elsewhere feel free but I'd appreciate them being credited to me and even more I'd appreciate a link to this site being posted.
    Enjoy the pix.

  3. Bob,

  4. Frankly, I don't think any of them are worth using anywhere else anyway. They are pretty poor pictures. I wouldn't have thought of posting them at all if they hadn't got back together for these gigs. I haven't really thought about the band in years. I'm looking forward to seeing them again though. They were one of the best bands that I ever saw and I've discovered that even after all this time I can still sing along to all the words.

  5. Thanks for the comment Bob. We're looking forward to doing it again. I'm pretty sure it will be just these three gigs. It's really a case of "one more for the road" before we all get too old! We've invested a lot of dosh in new gear and airtickets etc to make it happen. So, we're going to give it our best shot.

By the way, did you visit the north when in Thailand? Best part of the country I reckon.

  6. I've visited Thailand a few times and I agree the North is the best part.
I suspect that the gig at the Robin is going to be full. All of my old school mates have tickets. My brother was an even bigger fan than I was but he doesn't live in the Midlands any more and he's gutted that he can't come. I'm under strict instructions that if there's any merchandising I have to buy all of it for him.

  7. That's great news. I hear the Robin has a great atmosphere. Yes, there will be some merchandise there.
See you in July then. All the best

  8. Bob,
We are looking for someone who may be interested in filming the Jameson Raid gig at the Robin2 in July. We are hoping to combine film from the gig with some reality footage from the rehearsals and some vintage film footage and produce a DVD for the fans after the gigs. Would you be interested in doing this or do you only do stills? Or perhaps someone you know may be interested? We're not looking for a top professional job.

    Best wishes
    Ian

  9. I've never done video but there's a good chance I could find you somebody. I work for South Birmingham College and we have very good media department. I could probably find you a student from the department who would like to do it. Let me know if you want me to contact them. I could find out a contact for you and you could talk it over direct with them.

  10. Sory for the delayed reply, busy, busy...
But that's great. Yes please, a keen student would be fine. If you can find someone, I can give you the band's e-mail address

  11. Send me the address and I'll pass it directly on to someone in the media department to get back to you. Easier if you cut out the middle man (ie me) especially this late in the year, there are only a couple of weeks of term left to organise anything.
